The landscape of sustainable development in India is undergoing a structural shift. The conversation has moved beyond voluntary goodwill declarations to legally rigorous disclosures, data-backed land governance, and high-level policy advocacy.
At Social Responsibility Asia (SR Asia), navigating this shift requires operating across three distinct fronts: the corporate boardroom where non-financial audits occur, the field where public consultations take place, and the public forums where future sustainability roadmaps are built.
Below is an overview of our recent work across these three core areas.
1. ESG & Regulatory Assurance: Advancing Boardroom Accountability
With SEBI expanding compliance obligations for the Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) Core, independent third-party assurance has evolved from a differentiator into an institutional safeguard.
During the 2025–26 cycle, SR Asia delivered rigorous assurance and disclosure gap evaluations for top-tier Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and financial institutions, including:
NBCC (India) Limited: Comprehensive desk-level gap assessments and indicator verification across multi-locational urban infrastructure portfolios.
Jammu & Kashmir Bank: Strategic evaluation of governance metrics and responsible lending disclosures under Principle 1 and Principle 6 frameworks.
NLC India Limited & HPCL: Verifying critical emissions, workforce metrics, and supply-chain transparency against global standards, including GRI, ISAE 3000, and AccountAbility (AA1000AS).
Core Value: Independent verification protects corporate credibility against greenwashing scrutiny, providing investors and stakeholders with auditable evidence of genuine ESG progress.
2. On-the-Ground Social Impact: Rigorous Assessments & Geospatial Surveying
Credible sustainability cannot exist solely in spreadsheets—it must be grounded in community reality. Over the past year, SR Asia conducted comprehensive field evaluations and baseline data collection for critical industrial, urban, and environmental projects:
Industrial Corridor Development along the Ganga Expressway: Managed the statutory Social Impact Assessment (SIA) workflow for the Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster (IMLC) across Hapur and Amroha districts in Uttar Pradesh. Our teams coordinated public consultations, socio-economic baseline surveys, and resettlement impact frameworks under the RFCTLARR Act, 2013.
Himachal Pradesh Satellite Township: Structured developmental baseline studies for the proposed HIM-Chandigarh New Satellite Township Project in Solan District.
Precision Land Surveying in Mizoram: Deployed advanced geospatial workflows—integrating DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System), drone mapping, and QGIS spatial analysis—to deliver terrain and land-use data across challenging topographies.
Long-Term Impact Evaluation: Commenced a seven-year longitudinal study evaluating the multi-sectoral CSR and CER interventions of Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL).
Core Value: Aligning major infrastructure development with fair, transparent stakeholder engagement safeguards both project viability and community rights.
3. Thought Leadership & Policy: Shaping National and Global Dialogues
Data and fieldwork find their greatest utility when translated into public policy and human capital development. Throughout 2026, SR Asia contributed to vital national and international discussions:
BRICS+ Dialogue 2026 (Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, New Delhi): Engaged with international delegations on South-South collaboration, focusing on emerging economies developing their own climate and ESG reporting taxonomies.
IICA National Conference on CSR (NCCSR 2026): Collaborated with corporate leaders and regulators to advocate for streamlined monitoring of CSR capital into high-impact, measurable rural programs.
Nurturing Future Leaders at Delhi University: Delivered the keynote address—“Designing a ‘Samagra’ Career in Sustainability”—at Lady Irwin College, urging the next generation of professionals to bridge technical reporting with grassroots empathy.
Core Value: Influencing policy at the top level while training practitioners on the ground ensures that sustainability frameworks remain practical, inclusive, and effective.
